RC 500 Operation Instructions
CONDUIT AND BOX MUST BE INSTALLED WITH ENOUGH SUPPORT TO HANDLE THE WEIGHT OF PULLER. FAILURE TO INSTALL CORRECTLY CAN CAUSE THE PULLER TO FALL AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL OR DAMAGE THE PULLER

Paring instructions for units with green LED
Install the battery on the drive unit, and hold the footswitch close to the driving unit. Engage the footswitch and wait for the LEDs to come in solid. After the LEDs come in solid, remove the battery from the drive, then reinstall. Get clear of the puller, then engage the footswitch to confirm that the pairing was successful. If not successful, repeat the pairing above.
Operating Instructions
Always remove the battery from the drive unit before installing or working on the puller. Install the proper frame or adaptor to the conduit. The conduit and box MUST be supported well enough to hold the weight and force to be applied by the puller. Failure to support the conduit and box properly can result in serious injury and or damage to the puller not covered by the warranty. Half Time Tools and Equipment will NOT be responsible for any injury or death because the conduit and box were not supported correctly.
After the puller frame and drive have been installed in the desired configuration, Pull the clutch shaft out from the bottom of the worm drive gearbox far enough to engage the clutch drive pin. The spool will now rotate freely. Tie the string or fish tape to the puller line. Pull the line into the conduit. After the line has reached its destination, slowly pull another 5 to 10’ to remove any backlash on the spool. Tie cable to the line and engage the footswitch. The buzzer on the drive will sound, indicating the drive is going to start, and personnel must stay clear. Always inform all personnel of the remote operation of the puller and warn them to stay clear. After the buzzer sounds, the puller will start. If the pull is too intense or the cable gets hung up, the battery will trip, preventing damage or excess force on the motor and battery. Reset the battery by removing and reinstalling and try the pull again. When the pull is complete, the limit switch on the drive will be engaged, stopping the motor, and a buzzer in the footswitch will sound.
If while pulling the cable, the pull stops or gets hung up, the puller line tension must be relieved before the clutch shaft can be pulled out to disengage the spool. Remove the battery, remove the hook and loop strip holding the trigger, and push the forward/reverse switch; while holding the switch in, reinstall the hook and loop strip. This will allow the puller to be reversed to relieve tension. Reinstall the battery, get clear of the puller, and engage the footswitch just long enough to relieve tension. After the problem has been resolved, remove the battery, remove the hook and loop strip, and make sure the forward position switch springs back to the forward position completely. If the trigger cannot be depressed, the forward position switch will not be completely engaged. Push it in and quickly release it. The spring should push it out enough to enable the trigger to be depressed. Reinstall the hook and loop strip to hold the power trigger in. Reinstall the battery, and if the DC circuit breaker tripped, reset it by pushing the button in. Try the pull again. If the battery continues to trip, pull might be too difficult for the puller. NEVER operate the puller in reverse other than a few seconds to relieve tension. Operating in reverse will damage the puller and is not covered by warranty.
The wear plate engages the 4” and 4 11/16” box lip in three different heights depending on the box depth and conduit size. See the WP position pictures to get a better idea of mounting. Be aware of the position of the pulley to allow enough room between the pulley face and the bottom of the box for the cable, and try to keep the rope from dragging too hard against the top of the conduit. The optimal height will be the face of the pulley aligned with the center of the conduit to keep the rope from dragging. When mounting the main frame to the conduit, use the adjustable conduit clamps to brace the main frame and keep it from putting stress on the conduit and box anchors. The box and conduit MUST be supported correctly for the added weight of the puller. If not supported correctly, there is the danger of injury and damage to the puller. See conduit clamp pictures.
Warnings:
The conduit and box MUST be supported well enough to support the weight of the puller. Failure to do so can result in injury and damage to the puller.
The line must be kept tight on the spool to avoid tangles that are sometimes very difficult to remove.
The puller is not meant to be used in a damp or wet area. The puller is not waterproof. Using it in a damp environment will void the warranty.
After the line has been pulled into the conduit, pull another 5 to 10’ out slowly to prevent backlash, which can damage the puller and line.
Always remove the battery before installing or working around the puller. Always be aware of the line and spool location. Always stay clear of the puller while in operation. Failure to stay clear of the puller while in operation can result in serious injury.
Never use this product in an energized system.
